Spicy Red Wine Bacon Habanero Sauce
Spicy Red Wine Bacon Habanero Sauce
This habanero sauce recipe is a pan sauce that goes perfectly with juicy steaks. We seared up our filet mignon cuts along with some bacon, then added onion and habanero peppers, a red wine reduction, then strained it for the resting filets. Delicious! You can make this sauce without the steaks, but the brown bits at the bottom of the pan from your steaks will bring additional flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 habanero peppers, diced
- 2 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
- Heat a saute pan to medium heat and bacon slices. Cook about 10 minutes, or until bacon begins to crisp.
- Add onion and habanero peppers. Stir. Cook about 5 minutes, or until onions are nice and soft.
- Add red wine and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and allow wine to reduce to about 1/4 cup, about 5-6 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in butter to melt. This will thicken the sauce and make it velvety.
- Strain into a serving dish and salt to taste.
- Serve!
