Boom-Boom Bar-Style Spaghetti and Meatballs
We call these "bar style" meatballs because we love sitting down at our bar and watching the game. What game? Who cares, as long as we can enjoy these spicy meatballs simmered in rich tomato sauce and served with plenty of spaghetti noodles, then topped with freshly grated Parmesan. Good stuff!
Boom-Boom Bar-Style Spaghetti and Meatballs
Ingredients
- 2 habanero peppers, diced
- 2 jalapeno peppers, diced (fresh or roasted- try them both!)
- 8 ounces ground beef
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, coarsely chopped
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh Parmesan cheese, grated
- 4 ounces spaghetti noodles, prepared
- Olive oil
Cooking Directions
- Heat a saute pan to medium heat and add onions with a splash of olive oil. Saute about 5 minutes, or until onions are translucent.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with jalapeno peppers, habanero peppers, egg, bread crumbs, garlic, cooked onion, chili powder, and salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands.
- Form several meatballs from the mixture, about 4-6 good sized meatballs. Set aside. (NOTE: Be sure to wash your hands).
- Heat a large pan to medium-high heat and add olive oil. Sear the meatballs about 1-2 minutes each side to seal in the flavors, then reduce heat to medium-low.
- Add tomato sauce, fresh basil and chopped tomatoes. Stir.
- Partially cover and allow to simmer about 30 minutes, so sauce cooks through and meatballs finish cooking.
- Serve with prepared spaghetti noodles topped with fresh Parmesan!
NOTE: Eat it down in the bar with a beer if you can. Or anywhere else!
